PMC Primaluna
Hi Neil,
It's Mal Smith.
I bought a set of quad KT 150s for my primaluna off you last week and must say they are great. Heaps more punchy on the bottom end and don't loose anything in the mids or highs either. The extra punch is perfect for my pmc's.
Thanks for your help.
Primaluna upgrade.
Hey Neil,
I said I’d report back on the KT150’s in the Primaluna Dialogue HP power amp. Just so you know that amp is powering the Sonus Faber Electa Amator III’s. Mate, the instant difference was the bottom end! It’s been extended in a huge way and is so tight. You might recall we spoke about running a sub, I turned it off prior to listening and haven’t felt the need to turn it back on since I installed the tubes. The mids are very slightly more pronounced, the EL34’s do a great job in that area anyway. I feel the vocals have taken a step back some but that is a good thing in my system. The top end is less sharp on the ears too, probably more rolled off to be honest, but again good for me. I wasn’t sure prior to buying these tubes even though I’d read a heap of reviews to convince me otherwise. I have to join those guys now in saying the KT150’s are a worthy investment in the Primaluna. My plan was to buy a second Primaluna HP so I can monoblock and give those speakers some real power, apparently they open up over 100W. Not sure if that is the right choice in terms of amps, there are obviously better options out there but it’s what I am currently running so might continue down this path for a little while. Thanks for the chat the other day, was interesting to hear your thoughts. Please let me know if you have any more tube advice for the Primaluna.
Cheers,
Chris Bowden.
